What projector will give the most bang for the buck?

Amit T

Ya know, 1080p only, contrast a minimum of 20,000:1, lumens at least 17-1800. And not too pricey, I won't care how much bang for the buck I get with a $10,000 projector...I'm not telling my dad to spend 10k lol. But preferably in the $1,000-$1,500 range.

Thanks,
Amit

Answer
There are two new 1080p projectors under $1000 from Vivitek and Optoma, the Vivitek seems to have slightly better specs.
http://www.visualapex.com/Vivitek/Projector-Specifications.asp?For-The=H1080FD
http://www.visualapex.com/Optoma/Projector-Specifications.asp?For-The=HD20

Visual Apex has bundles with a screen and mount for under $1300. Definitely the best bang you'll find at that buck level.

If you want to spend a bit more, the Epson 8100 is very good.
http://www.visualapex.com/Epson/Projector-Specifications.asp?For-The=Home-Cinema-8100

For a truly excellent projector, the Panasonic PT-AE4000U is amazing (got mine a month ago from Visual Apex).
http://www.visualapex.com/Panasonic/projector-specifications.asp?for-the=PT-AE4000U

Have fun.

Is the camera with the projector really worth 450 bucks?

gk

?? couse my dad said i can get it if i dont get the new laptop

Answer
If I were you I would go with laptop instead of camera with the projector or if you want to get camera, for that price you can get good camera with good features for taking good pictures.

Projector Display Fix?

Q. In a classroom at my school we have an Epson projector (I'm not sure what model) hooked up to the class computer for showing slideshows and the like. Whenever we use it part of the top of the screen is cut off on the projection. I'd say maybe a fourth of the screen is lost to this and it's going to cause problems in upcoming presentations. Are there any rough ideas out there of what could be causing this and a potential fix for it?

Answer
Difficult to say from your description. It could be an inappropriate resolution on the computer, an aspect ratio issue, or simply a matter of the projector not properly aimed at the screen. You don't say, but the latter would be indicated if the missing part of the image is hitting the wall. If that's the case the position of the screen or the projector is wrong.

What kind of trade show displays do you use?

nutritive

Do you use banners, signs, projector screens, wall monitor screens, or maybe a combination? And which of the displays you see or use at trade shows seem to have the most effect on people?

Answer
Your trade show exhibit display serves as a direct, powerful reflection of your company image and portrays the level of product quality and service customers can expect to receive.

To be effective, the visual impact of your display must make a strong first impression and communicate your message in a matter of seconds. This small window of time is critical to attracting prospects to your booth and maximizing your sales opportunities.

Getting Started

As you begin considering the type, size, design, and configuration of your trade show display. answer these questions:

What do you want to accomplish through trade show participation?
How do you plan to use your exhibit to meet your objectives?
How large are the events in which you plan to participate? Do they attract national, regional or local audiences?.
What location type (in-line, corner, end, island) and size of trade show exhibit display space will you reserve?
How many events will you participate in annually?
How will you likely transport your display to each show?
How much money are you willing to invest in your exhibit? Your booth, lighting, and accessories can range from under $1,000 to more than $50,000+ for a top-end customized display.
Types of Trade Show Exhibit Displays

Whether you decide to have a custom display produced, or adapt a used or rental unit, the type of booth you need will be based on the nature of shows you attend and what you want to accomplish at each one. Here are some standard types of trade show displays:

Pop-up Display: Consists of light-weight folding frames covered with magnetic-backed fabric, vinyl, or plastic panels that create curved or angled walls.
Panel Display: A flexible option that consist of fabric-covered rectangular sections that are connected to make a wall. They can be readily adapted to different booth sizes and configurations.
Table-Top Display: Inexpensive, lightweight displays that sit on the top of a table and are typically used for smaller events. These displays usually have three panels with velcro-attached graphics and headlines that can be easily changed and updated.
Pull-up Display: Lightweight, easy method to accent your booth. These function like a window shade in reverse and can be placed together or in different booth locations based on your design needs.
Choosing a Trade Show Exhibit Display Company
You need to carefully research companies that sell quality trade show displays and select an exhibit firm that has the expertise you want, can effectively communicate and service your needs, will deliver your booth on time, meet your budget requirements, and guarantee the work.

Therefore, the best place to start sourcing a supplier is to visit a trade show and talk with exhibitors in non-competing who have the type of exhibit booth and display banners you like.

You may want to get referrals from professional organizations, your chamber of commerce, and/or colleagues. Of course, the internet is another valuable resource for finding trade show display companies worldwide.

Once you have a list of possible suppliers of tradeshow display booths and banner stands, set up a time to talk with a representative or two from each company. This will enable you to assess expertise, learn how each firm operates, ask about pricing and budget controls, request photographs of completed projects, and secure a list of references to contact.

Graphics and Signage

You want your trade show exhibit display graphics and signage to grab peopleâs attention and draw them into your booth.
Most suppliers provide graphic services either in-house or on a contracted basis.

Check out the work they have done for others. If you donât like what you see, hire your own graphic designer to help produce artwork for your booth.

Be sure signage with your company and/or product name is highly visible, well-lit, and features large easy-to-read type. You may want to have multiple signs in different areas of your booth. Keep your message succinct and direct. After all, you only have about three seconds to make an impression and turn a prospect into a viable lead.

Do I need to buy a HID projector along with a HID kit?

Q. I have a Subaru Legacy GT that already seems to have a projector built into the stock headlights but I am not sure if the brighter HID lights would be compatible with it. I am only getting these because regular halogen lights are horribly dim. At night I can only see about 10 ft in front of me.

Answer
You don't need projectors, I think that your car probably has stock projectors which will be fine... Just make sure you get the correct bulb fitment/size for your car. You don't need to buy other projectors, even if you don't have projectors you will be ok.

HID with Projector headlights?

Q. I understand that HID are a great choice for better lighting, as well are projector headlights.

Would I gain any benefit from putting an HID bulb system in a projection headlight casing?

Is this possible? Should I go with one or the other? Will one affect the other in a positive or negative way?

Thank you!

Answer
Yes, HID bulbs do work in most projector light fittings - you can get a Xenon HID conversion kit for most cars.

The main advantages are around 300% more light output than standard halogen bulbs. The bulbs also give a whiter light than standard, which can reduce eye strain.

backyard movie projector?

blondiie

How much do they cost, where can i buy or rent one, etc.. everything you know...

all answers get thumbs up

Answer
I've used for different projectors for my outdoor theater including an Epson S3, S4, InFocus IN74 and an Optoma HD70.

Depending on the ambient light in your area (I only have moon and starts with no streetlights) you will need at least 1200 Lumen and as high a contrast ratio as you can find. I get a lot of mine here.

www.tigerdirect.com

One will run from about $500 for 480p, 800 for 720p and $1800 for 1080p.

You will also need something for sound. Below is a great site for newbie outdoor movie enthusiasts, and feel free to email if you need help.

Cant afford to buy or rent a projector and screen, then yes a TV is the only option.

Not the same experience. and no buying a projector and returning it is really a incredibly inconsiderate and bad idea, anyone that would do that is a jerk.

Bar none the following projectors â all âFull-HDâ, native 1080p designs â currently offer the best performance and value for the money.

Ultimate AV Review - Mitsubishi HC5000 LCD Projector
http://www.ultimateavmag.com/videoprojectors/107mits5000/

Of the current crop of ALL high definition projectors the Sony VPL-VW50 âPearlâ SXRD, the Panasonic PT-AE1000U, and the Mitsubishi HC5000 home theater projectors are arguably three of the best buys at the present time, selling for discounted prices of approximately $4300, $4000 and $4500 respectively. Even at the MSRP of $6300 the JVC DLA-RS1 or DLA-HD1 D-ILA Home Theater Projectors are a bargain for the level of performance they provide.

Projectors and apartments are a fairly unusual combination due to a variety of viewing room constraints associated with apartments. Nevertheless the best choice, especially for apartment use, will be a âFull-HDâ, native1080p projector with the goal of viewing as much source material as possible in the form of 1080p video; 720p being the next best choice. If you'll be viewing a lot of 480-line video source material (DVD-Video, SDTV, etc.,) you will need to make sure you're using equipment that can effectively upscale 480-line video source material to not less than the native resolution of your projector, preferably 720 pixels or greater.

When shopping for a projector I highly recommend that you carefully audition each projector using ALL of the video sources similar to what you will regularly be using, particularly if you will be watching predominantly non-HD video.

You will also need to take into consideration the cost of purchasing a quality projection screen from a company such as Stewart Filmscreen, Da-Lite, Draper, or DNP. For an apartment I would recommend a (16:9) screen no larger than 82-inches (diag.) with a gain no higher than 1.3; if you feel you need a screen with more gain then there may be too much ambient light and you would be better off choosing an alternative to a front projector. Of all the current display technologies front projectors are the most demanding of the viewing environment.

Last but not least you will also need to consider the proper viewing distance(s) for the type of source material you will be viewing. (For more info on proper viewing distances please read my replies from the Yahoo! Answers links below.) If you sit too close you will be constantly distracted by visible picture structure such as individual scan lines or pixels in the video image. Generally the higher the resolution the closer you will be able to sit to the screen before picture structure will become a serious problem.

A few questions on Home Projectors?

Mason M

ok well me and my uncle were both thinking on getting some Home Projectors when we had the money. thing is i'm not sure what to get or where to place it. What are the best types of Home Projectors? We want it on the wall and to take it all up or most of it. Can we plug DVD's into them or Xbox 360s? Where is the best place to put them? i was thinking letting them hang on the ceiling. I need all the info i can get on Home Projectors. THANK YOU!!!!
Like how can you decide which projector is best for your size room?

Answer
projectors are a great way to see the BIG picture and you are on the right track, BUT you definitely need to do some reading.

Note that projectors use lamps that typically cost $250+ and need to be replaced every 3000 hrs or so. You also need a screen to get the best image (although a blank white wall can work). Finally, projectors can accept input from a range of source devices (e.g. game consoles, DVD or Blu-ray players, cablebox or satellite receivers), but don't have a useful amplifier or speakers (if any), so you need to supply both the source device and some form of audio system. If that doesn't put you off see the links and do some reading.

Looking for a projector?

I am a college student and am looking to get a projector for my room. The room is about ten feet wide and what we would use it for is to hook it up to a laptop to watch movies and to run cable to it. What would you suggest I get that is reasonably priced?

Answer
Hi,
I think with projectors if you can spend a bit more $ you tend to get a few more features. I like the FAVI mini projector myself, it's around $200 and the reviews are generally positive on Amazon. Actually the best way to find the 'right" projector is perhaps to go to Amazon and search for laptop projectors - and read the reviews. Find out what people are saying, for example, does it run quiet, stay cool or overheat, plugin to your laptop or iPad, project well even with some light in the room, etc.

Hope that helps. I reviewed 3 laptop projectors in the link below if that helps. Thanks...

How can I hook up my DVD player to a mobile projector?

cHrysler

I have a regular home DVD player and I want to hook it up to a mobile projector. Will the projector require a certain type of connector?

Answer
Check the projector to see what sort of inputs it has.

Most projectors will accept VGA, composite-video (standard A/V cable) and s-video (gives you a better picture than composite video.) Better projectors will also accept component video and even HDMI. Some better DVD players can also output VGA as well.

Check to see if the projector also has speakers - most of them don't. If your projector doesn't have speakers, you'll need to bring some along or use whatever is at the site. Computer speakers will work, but you will need to get a RCA-to-miniplug converter so you can make the connection. Radio Shack or other electronics stores sell these.

projector cuts out when using my dvd player?

Edward

i have an optoma projector and a panasonic blue ray dvd player, when i watch films (both blueray and non blue ray dvd's) the film cuts out every couple of minutes, to the blue screen, saying searching in the bottom right corner, for about 3 seconds then goes back to the film. is this because i have a poor quality hdmi cable? the cable and projector works fine on my xbox, i've tried it with 2 panasonic dvd players and both have the same problem.
the cable is a cheap 4ft cable from amazon, it's actually an amazon basics one, i have other hdmi cables lying around, i'll try them out. thanks.

Answer
How long is your HDMI run? I have a similar setup with an Epson 8350 projector and a PS3 for movies. I ended up with an HDMI from Blue Jeans Cable because I was running 50ft. They are slightly cheaper than Monster brand and are great quality. If it is a long run I would suggest a HDMI amplifier with your current cable then maybe give BJC a call because they are very friendly and informative. Best of luck to you and your setup.

Want 2 buy a projector to display presentations to the class/audience (200 people) and view videos (DVD/VCR)?

Sangita S

I am planning to buy a projector for our temple - as a teaching aid. I am looking at the following projector -

Viewsonic XGA DLP
Viewsonic PJ458D 2000 Lumen XGA 1024 x 768 DLP Projector
Only $779.99 after rebate*

Requirements:
1. To be able to display presentations to the class of 20 - 25 or sometimes bigger audience (100 - 200 people)
2. To be able to view videos (via DVD or VCR) in place of a flat screen monitor

I realize that we may need additional speakers for audio. Any suggestions??

Answer
The projector you suggested is a good one. DLP technology doesn't wear out and the only maintenance cost is for the light bulb, which should last a couple years with moderate use. Typically projectors under $1000 are only going to work for a group of that size in a fairly dark room, so please keep that in mind. Another good feature of that projector is its resolution- typically lower priced projectors tend to be 800x600.

As for speakers, any portable boom box should work fine. Just be sure to find one that has audio inputs.

Most things there will probably be out of your price range, but you'll find a good projector for cheap soon. Best of luck to you. I just recently purchased a Samsung SP a800b. Its suburb.

What is the best home theater projector available for less than $6000?

drjay71

I would like the best picture quality available.

Answer
There are several projectors available in this ($0 - $6000.00) category. In fact as technology has improved, pictures have gotten better and cost has come down to where most folks can actually afford to enjoy LARGE Screen movies in their own home!

*There are 3 projector technologies that are currently in use in the home entertainment industry: LCD (Liquid Crystal Display), DLP (Digital Light Processing) and LCoS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon.)

***LCD is the most mature of the three types in terms of age and number of units produced. It claims it's roots in the commercial and House of Worship (HoW) arena. Because of this, there are more "high brightness" LCD projectors than any other type. If you're theater is situated in a daylight room with little in the way of light control, LCD may be an excellent choice. Their picture quality has also improved over the years to the point where some brands are considered fairly stiff competition for some of the DLP and LCoS offerings. The best LCD projectors will most certainly look much better than their DLP or LCoS counterparts in this price range if the room's light can not be properly controlled.

Answer a) Ep son's Pro-Cinema series LCD projectors are a favorite in the daylight or medium lit room category and worth a serious LOOK!

**DLP is the technology that Texas Instruments (TI) developed to improve black levels and color accuracy. Over 6000 commercial DLP Cinemas were installed as of 2008 (currently searching for an update to this count) and they hold the lions share of all new Cinema installations world wide due to their VERY HIGH contrast ratio and resolution. The first company to partner with TI and offer a DLP Projector was the Kennesaw, GA manufacturer, ******Digital Projections Inc. (DPI) who is the ONLY projector manufacturer to ever win an EMMY Award for a projector (actually two Emmy's were awarded to DPI in 1998 for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering development.) By the way, DPI offered 18 new 3-D projectors at InfoCom 2010.

Pricing for DPI projectors starts nearer to the $9k mark than $6k but worth a look if you inherit your rich uncle's change purse. Outstanding picture quality! State of the Art. If you can afford it, DPI is the 800lb Gorilla in the room of DLP Projection!

Answer b) Digital Projection's DLP projectors - Worth a Really $erious LOOK if you can afford it!

*****Mitsubishi may be the best known and most sought after manufacturer of DLP TVs and projectors. They offer both front projection (on the ceiling) and rear projection (table top TVs.) Their table top line has recently become VERY, VERY popular due to their outstanding picture quality, *3-D capability (since 2007!) and size vs. price. If 82" is large enough for your Home Theater or Family Room (and that IS really pretty BIG!) then you should consider these products. No "DARK ROOM" needed.

Although some of them ARE wall mountable, they may be a little too deep for some folks taste. That being said, we've seen many of them mounted in built-in "cabinet nooks" and above fireplaces and their very thin bezel looks fantastic when installed this way. The Mitsubishi front projectors have been very highly reviewed in the trade and on-line review magazines and have fantastic pictures. These projectors and TVs will easily fit within your requested price cap with room to spare for all the add-ons you will probably need to finish off your new Man (or Woman)-Cave.

A word about 3-D: *3-D is really cool but if 3-Dimensional movies really are YOUR thing, make sure your TV or projection screen is plenty Big enough. Anything smaller than (approx) 72" diagonal is going to leave most of you wanting more. If you don't believe me, take a look at the closest Big Box Store that demonstrates 3-D. There's nothing worse than a 3-D animated graphic or effect that becomes 2-D at the edges because your "Field of View" is larger than the screen! YUK! You either need to scoot up really close (for 50"-65" sets) or be sure that the screen you purchase is taller than your *3-D glasses lens (field of view) so you can sit in your favorite chair 10-12 feet away.

Answer c) Mitsubishi Table Top DLP TVs - If 82" is big enough and you don't have to hang it on the wall, these TVs are outstanding in any light condition and the Price is Right. They have several 3-D models. They are worth a Serious LOOK!

Answer d) Mistubishi's front projectors (either series) are a great value for light controlled rooms with fantastic color pallet and contrast ratio. Better than most LCD given you have some sort of light control. Dark Room is BEST! Worth a LOOK!

You may want to consider the Optoma brand as well if front projection DLP is what you need. They have been coming on strong for the last couple of years and have proven to be incredibly competitive to Mitsubishi! Very quiet and easy to place in an odd shaped room with lens shift features.

Answer e) Optoma projectors - The higher end of the Op

I am getting a new car and I am considering the Toyota RAV4. I heard a new 2013 model is going to be out.?

Q. Should I wait for a new 2013 model (and if anyone has a release date) or should I go ahead and purchase a 2012 model? Suggestions please.

Answer
According to a lot of sources, there is supposed to be a new redesign for 2013, but no exact release date. Some say it will be shown at the Los Angeles Auto Show and others say it will come as a 2014 model year in 2013. My guess is it will be in dealerships by SPRING 2013! Here are some things I heard and saw through spy photos...
1) No Rear-Mounted Spare Tire
2) Lift Tailgate instead of Swinging Out
3) Nicer Interior
4) Projector Headlights with LED DRLs
5) Better Fuel Economy

Somethings I'm hoping for...
1) Still offer a I4, V6 and hopefully a Hybrid
2) Upscale technology like Blind Spot Monitor

Overall, the new RAV4 should be better than before, but it just depends on what you want. Check these sites for more information...

Answer
It does come with a projector. The LG Expo is well designed and boasts a sharp display and excellent QWERTY keyboard. The Windows Mobile 6.5 device also offers Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth, and GPS. Its call quality was excellent and the smartphone's general performance was quite snappy. Offering both power and style, the LG Expo is one of the best smartphones for business users on the market today. Now the bad. The smartphone lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack. There's no dedicated Start menu button, often requiring you to use the stylus. We also wish the Expo had a built-in stylus holder.

Projectors?

Pasky M

I have a few questions about projectors, I am going to get one to put in my room that I want to hook my computer up to to play games on a huge screen, i want to wathc movies on it through my computer, and I want to be able to watch local t.v. chaneels on it somehow. (my budget is I'm trying to keep it under $1000 including projection screen; I already have a sound system so that's not in my budget)

Q1: What projector should I get?
Q2: I get that the amount of lumens means how bright it can get, so what would be a good amount of lumens?
Q3: What would be a good contrast ratio? (I know the higher the better, but what is minimum amount the projector should have?)
Q4: What brand?
Q5: Where should I get it (Newegg, Bestbuy, Tigerdirect?)
Q6: Is a projector worth it instead of a tv? (I have enough space for up to 200 inches, so I thought a projecter would be a good idea, because then I could roll up the screen when I didn't need, and use the space, and it's cheaper than a big t.v.)
Ummmmm.. one thing I forgot is: is there anyway I can hook my projector up to local t.v.? (like bunny ears). I also understand that all t.v. will be digital by february of next year, so could I use a digital box to get local channels to play on my projecter?

Answer
Lets see If I can help

Q1: What projector should I get?

You want to make sure that the pj you get has a native resolution of at least 1280 X 720 so you can experience 720p HD. You should be able to find one for less than $800 and I actually just picked up an Optoma HD70 for about $650 after rebate.

Q2: I get that the amount of lumens means how bright it can get, so what would be a good amount of lumens?

Anything between 1000 and 1200 should be good. You get too many Lumens and you risk washing out the picture.

Q3: What would be a good contrast ratio? (I know the higher the better, but what is minimum amount the projector should have?)

I'd look for at least 2000:1

Q4: What brand?

There a gazillion of them but I prefer Infocus, Optoma or Epson and have had good experiences with all of them.

Q5: Where should I get it (Newegg, Bestbuy, Tigerdirect?)

For gods sake not Best Buy. Personally I have bought a few from Tigerdirect, but before I do I will do a search for the specific item on Yahoo Shopping so I can compare all of the online prices.

Q6: Is a projector worth it instead of a tv?

Absolutely! Watching HD on the big screen will BLOW YOU AWAY! I have been slowly replacing ALL my TV's with projection

Need help finding a projector on a budget?

MSCreative

I have a

optoma ep716r projector

at the moment connected to my ps3 but want a better one... I have found the following one of ebay

170424105472

do you think it will be any good for quality or think it will be any better than the one i have

Any help or advice would be much appreciated as i am doing it on a £300 budget

Answer
If the specs are accurate it is what you are looking for. You won't get anything better with the budget you have. This one should do, especially since it is capable of up to 1080i performance (personally I'd never use the interlaced setting on a projector) Use the 720p setting on your PS3s output and the projector input ( use the Component cables for this if tehre is no user settings) for better projection results, especially if you plan on projecting a picture larger than 40 inches diaganal. The real price driver is the resolution, this one has 800:1 so its reasonable for the amount you are budgeting. If you can find a similar one in your budget that's new with as high contrast ratio as possible, that would be your best option

Should I pull the trigger on this situation?

Nick

Hi, I'm 26, super polite and friendly by nature. I worked as a manager at a 5 screen Corporate owned movie theatre in a midwest town of 15,000 for 4 years. Very dedicated, loved my job. The current manager has let the theatre go (it was already old and in bad repair when I started there)... road sign falling apart, poster cases damaged, show-times barely visible on poster cases (no times on road-sign), building interior in bad poor condition from ac/heat units to restrooms to wall paper to carpeting to screen condition. to sound to seats to etc. etc. Was 35mm but I heard they are getting a digital/3D projector or two from Corporate in the next few weeks. They were the last theatre to get converted. Last I saw the books (2012) theatre was making $90-100k profit a year. Rent (strip mall) was $10k a month, outrageous I know. Manager was payed 35-42k a year based on performance. 2 hourly managers payed 18-22k a year depending on performance. Nearest other AMC theatre (built in 1997) is an 8 screen 35 miles away in a town of 34,000 which has basic facilities and digital/3D projection. Around 13,000 additional residents in rural communities within a 20 mile radius of the 5 screen theatre's community of 15000. I know that's not a lot of information, but based on this, should I attempt to get a loan, investors, financing, etc. and open a competing theatre in the town?? I have experience, excellent credit, familiar with customer base, I'm not tied down to my current job and would love to manage Full-Time to save on my own costs (I can live off 20-25k a year) and build capital, pay off loans and investors. SHOULD I GO FOR IT? Would you build or lease? How many screens? Arcade? Etc. etc. I did this on my Iphone so sorry It's not punctuated well. THANKS!

Answer
How long ago was last you saw the books? You need to have current info. You need to do a business plan before approaching anyone for financing. think about the movie theatre industry and how it is being affected by video purchase and rental and online movie viewing and whatever else that may come along. Think about ways you can change theatre movie viewing to keeep up with the changing times. I see movie theartre going by the wayside unless people start thinking outside the box and come up wiht ingenious new ideas to keep the people coming in.

I want to decorate the baby's nursery with pictures of animals?

Shana

I found on the internet this really cute barn animals made of wood (cow horse chicken) that one can glue to the wall. The problem is that they cost a fortune ($799 for the whole set). It is ridiculous .
Neither of us are any good with drawing so I wonder if there are any large stickers that I can use instead.
WHere can I find something like that? Or any other idea?

Answer
There are a variety of options available to you.

First, see if you can buy or borrow a projector. I bought an old fashioned one from a school surplus sale for $10, but would love a digital. You may be able to rent one. Using the projector, you can project images onto the wall and stencil them in, and then paint. If you do not want to do this directly onto the wall, purchase some blank canvas and do it on there and then hang them.

Alternatively, you could hire someone to do a mural. One of the churches we are associated with has a wonderful artist that does the most amazing murals-the VBS there is always so surreal.

I am certain you can purchase wooden shapes for a lot less than $800. Visit your local arts and crafts store. A neat idea would be to have a lot of family members decorate one for the baby's nursery, and sign their name on the back. Not only would it be helpful and fun, but a neat keepsake.

You could use stuffed animals instead, but did you know stuffed animals can multiply? LOL

And, yes-you probably can find wall stickers. Check Lowe's, Home Depot, Babies R Us, Wal Mart, etc...and the internet if you have no luck at those places. eBay will have some. How large you can find them, I do not know.

Have fun!

Babyâs nursery wall decoration?I Promise 10 points for the best answer!?

Yev

I accidentally came across this picture online and I just LOVE the wall decoration. http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn257/yevyaker/531.jpg
I canât seem to find something similar, I just donât know if that is a painting, wallpaper or some kind of wall sticker that self adheres to the wall. Anyway, does anyone know what it is and where can I buy it?

Answer
This might be a one of those wall mural sticker kits. They usually run about $200 for something this size and can probably be found by doing some online searching.

Another option, you could get a projector and trace and paint this image yourself. I have a friend who did this for her nursery, and it turned out great!

Good luck.

Suggestions for a budget projector?

Ethan

I am looking for a budget projector, I am going to be hooking it up to my desktop computer and playing games, watching movies, etc. I already have a set of speakers, so sound isn't a problem. I am looking for video quality here. My budget is about $250, but I can bend a little in either direction. Thank you.

Answer
Save your money till you have at least $2500 to spend the cheap projectors produce a poor image. Not to mention you need a good screen (which is not cheap) to get a good image.

Which projector should be best for the budget?

rainbowhac

My budget is around Rs. 4000-5000. The thing is that projection size is not of much consideration as my rooms are very small and around 50'' - 60'' projection with decent picture quality would be enough(no need of those expensive 100''-200'' projectors).Any customizable projector would be also great in this regard and Led is my preference as I believe LED s are not that power consumers and doesn't turn very hot overtime.
Using for: Mainly game-play from PC,Watching movies,Pictures etc.
Rough use and home entertainment use.

Answer
If your looking for a 50 or 60 inch screen just go with a direct view high definition 1080p Television, its going to give you a better picture than any projection system, will be much less costly, and lighting will be less of an issue. A good projection system is not cheap and requires a good screen, all the cheap projectors do not provide a good image and are a waste of money. If you have $3500 US dollars to spend then maybe its worth it, but at that point it still only makes sense if you want a larger screen.

Best 3D, 1080p Projector for under £500/$800?

toby

I'm looking for a 1080p (1920x1080) projector which can be used with a PS3 via an HDMI port which would output the game/blu ray in 3D, and VGA or DVI port would be nice so I can also plug my Mac into it aswell.

Many thanks

Answer
For quality and reasonable price check our www.optoma.com
Or for extensive reviews on all kind of projectors go to
www.projectorcentral.com

Just a suggestion, consider 720p 3d DLP. For $800 you can buy the top-choice and at 120" diagonal screen , it's just a matter of seating distance to even the quality of both resolutions. I own a DLP 720p 3d and my nephew owns a 1080p dlp 3d. And BTW you need a 3d converter box that comes with a pair of 3d glasses ($320) and a 3d player..that is if your serious in 3d.

What is a good 1080p projector for cheap?

Brett W

Could I get a good 1080p projector for like $500? LED would be great. I just don't want it to end up being really crappy. If that price won't work what projector will?

Answer
Projector Central's database lists 6 1080p projectors with street price under $1000 (1st link). The least expensive is $800.

Since image quality is about more than just resolution I would suggest you consider some 720p projectors (2nd link). The Optoma HD66 has had great reviews and costs a bit over $500.

What is a good projector for under $700 or so?

pokerkid

I have been looking around for a projector to watch movies, play video games ect... i dont want to spend all that much, but figured I could spend up to around $700. I would love to spend less if the quality is there, but any help on selecting a projector model, specs, and where to get one from.

Answer
This site has a list of their picks for the top home theater projectors currently available: http://www.projectorcentral.com/home-theater-multimedia-projectors.htm . Scroll down to the 720p models if you don't want to go over $700. There is one there for $549, which is pretty good for an HD projector.

projector for xbox 360?

Luc

I am looking to purchase a projector for my xbox 360 and blu-ray player. I Have a pretty open area, and have a budget of $700. I am not looking for 3D compatible, only good picture quality and a good size projection.
Any suggestions on what to buy?
I was recommended the Optoma HD 66

Answer
well for under 700 $ you are going to have to buy a 720p projector, 1080p cost about 900+ unless you find one used.

if you see 720p advertised, make sure you look for the actual screen resolution, most everyone will advertise 720p - 1080p, but they actually are only 800-600, that is very bad.... dont get anything below 1500 lumens. most bulbs are 4000-6000 hours, thats about 3-4 years for the average gamer. and with a 720p projector, you wont want a screen bigger than 70" or you will see big aliasing problems, but if it doesnt bother you, it can get bigger no problem depending on how bright you get.

ADVICE ON HOME THEATRE PROJECTOR...?

Michael E

I AM IN THE MARKET FOR A HOME THEATRE PROJECTOR. I WANT TO TRANSITION FROM A TELEVISION TO PROJECTOR FOR A BIGGER SCREEN. I AM UNFAMILIAR ON THE SPECS THAT I NEED TO LOOK FOR . I WANT TO SPEND UNDER $800 IDEALLY. IF THERE IS A VERY GOOD ONE FOR UNDER THAT I WOULD LIKE TO FIND IT IDEALLY WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT WHAT I NEEED TO LOOK FOR IN ONE AND ANY RECOMMENDATIONS ON BRANDS OR COMPANIES THAT SELL THEM FOR A GOOD PRICE. THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP

Answer
Epson makes a good 720p projector. if you're using it for every day tv, its not a good idea though. your lamp life on a projector ranges from 1500-4000 hours then you have to get a new bulb, which costs $150-$600 depending on the projector you choose.

I need help picking out a Home Theater Projector!?

Jonathan

I want to spend around $600 on a nice projector. What should I know about them? What specs should I be looking for b/c obviously I want the best quality I can get? What's a good brand? ...

Answer
You really need to do some reading. Two good sites for info and reviews are found at the links.

Note that at your budget point you can may find a reasonable 720p projector (but not 1080p). That said, most projectors under $600 are designed for "business" use. They can be used for home theatre but often suffer from poorer video processing, higher fan noise levels, poorer colour accuracy, often 4:3 aspect ratio (vs 16:9), and lower contrast ratio ... but often they are brighter than true home theatre models.

So .. do the reading, but here are some minimum specs to look for:
- 1500 ANSI lumens
- 2000:1 contrast ratio
- 28 dB fan
- 800x600 or better resolution (preferably 1280x720)
- 16:9 aspect ratio (preferable)
- digital input capability (but at least VGA/component)

Desirable specs ... but not often found on budget projectors:
- 1.5 or greater zoom lens ratio (facilitates installation)
- lens shift
- HDMI input (or at least DVI)

At the budget level you state you probably will need to focus on DLP based models ... so look for at least a 4X colour wheel (reduces chance of rainbow effect).

Epson, Benq, InFocus, Optoma are all good brands.

To get better quality for less $$ consider used projectors ... but make sure the lamp is either new or nearly so since new lamps cost $350 or so ... and need to be replaced every 3000hr or so. Read reviews and look at street prices at projector central to get an idea of what comparable projectors are worth.

Explain Microsoft powerpoint?

shaniqua_j

details in its steps and techniques

Answer
There really isn't enough room here in Yahoo answers to explain everything that powerpoint does and is for. You'd really need a book for those details.

In short, Powerpoint is software that was created for presentations. It's used all over industry from the smallest company up to the Government and Universities. It allows the user to provide briefings in a slide type of format (which gets its name from the now defunct slide projector). In conference rooms with an overhead camera, the powerpoint presentation can be used to show an audience of thousands of attendees. This elminates the high usage of paper handouts.

Because of its ability to provide various kinds of movement (such as animations or graphic transitions) it can provide the briefer the ability to create a powerpoint presentation.

Interestingly enough, Microsoft is not the original creator of Powerpoint....Microsoft purchased the software from someone else and has modified it over the last 20yrs along with the rest of its office suites.

The current version of Powerpoint (2007) is the most powerfull, and best, of all versions to date.

projectors for outdoor cinema?

Eric O

http://www.openaircinema.us/info/elite/pact_show/id_19385372/

i found this website which sells the whole kit (is it good value for money?) - looking at the projector specifically, is 3500 lumens sufficient for a 20' screen in a relatively light-pollution-free area?
these things go up to 10.000 lumens and more, and their price proportionally - which would be the best adapted in your opinion?
Also, the projector has to work in a relatively humid environment - think Orlando by a lake. And give good screen resolution from DVD source

Answer
To pull this off, you will basically need three things:

A big enough screen that is made for outdoors. It will need to be stable in the wind. That is the hard part.

A nice bright projector (depends on the screen size. 5K lumens will probably be minimum).

A professional sound system.

You best bet is to hire an AV staging and rental company to do the whole thing. If you are going to do this on a regular basis, they can help you with purchasing the equipment and setting it up permanently.

There are plenty of companies in your area that can help you with this. Try the Yellow Pages under "Audio Visual" or "Audio Video".

front projector specs help?

bbboy9876

what would be the specs to look for in an HD projector?
we're mostly concerned with the contrast ratio and the brightness. What would be the ideal ratio/ brightness levels as well as any other specs that could be useful
It is for a home movie theater and gaming systems

Answer
It's generally better to make your decision based on reviews and customer opinions rather than specs.

If your budget allows it, the Panasonic PT-AE3000 is the best projector under $3500, and you can find it for under $2500.

http://www.projectorcentral.com/panasonic_ae3000_projector_review.htm

Excellent contrast ratio (60,000:1), fairly bright (1600 lumens), remembers zoom/focus presets for different aspect ratios.

For a much lower-cost projector, look at the Epson 720.

http://factorydirect.ca/catalog/product_spec.php?pcode=BQ0650

is it good quality?

Answer
BenQ is a name brand projector manufacturer. For $400 it's a pretty good deal (It had a US MSRP of $1500 and a street price of $800). See the link for some details.

It's primarily a business projector, and the contrast ratio (600:1) is low by modern home theatre standards, but there are people who use this or very similar projectors for home theatre use (HDTV and DVD).

Note it doesn't have digital inputs .. so you would not be able to connect via HDMI or DVI.

I'd suggest a screen no bigger than about 80", and don't expect HDTV performance, BUT it's a good value to get into big screen TV, games or movies. Just don't expect miracles.

I am looking to replace my infocus 7205 DLP projector, i think its a 720P or 1080i.
i want an equivalent machine, hopefully better, for as cheap as possible. i figure, since mine is about 4 or 5 years old, i can an equal machine for much less.
i don't know much about projectors, and all the new infocus ones are over 2000 dollars which is way over budget.
thanks for any advice

Answer
The cheaper you go, the lower the quality. Any projector that does 720p or 1080i is going to start in the $600 range. Here is a link to a BenQ projector, we have several models from that manufacturer at work, that should do what you want.

How many hours do most projector bulbs normally last?

I have an Epson Movie Mate projector.

Answer
It varies by projector, but I've never had one last less than 2500 and that INCLUDES my Epson. You can find more informaiton here. Just look at the spec of any projector and it will tell you the lamp life. However, that can be improved drastically by using the proper shut down procedures.

what is the average life time of the light bulb for the DLP tv? (The rear projector tv)?

Arthur C

I like to buy a DLP TV, but I wonder how often that I have to change the bulb and what is the cost?

Answer
Different models of DLP projectors use different light bulbs. Your TV's user manual should give you an estimate of bulb life (usually 2000-5000hrs). However, that is an estimate and not a guarantee. Some bulbs may fail sooner. More likely, you will find that the bulb dims with time, and the real end of life comes when you think that the picture has lost too much brightness. My DLP projector claims a bulb life of 2000 hrs (it is an old model--newer units have longer life). Howver, by the time it reached 1200hrs the brightness had dimmed considerably, and I replaced the bulb.

Note: all projectors (DLP or LCD) use similar bulbs, and all have limited life and are replaceable.

How do I connect an Apple TV to a VGA Projector?

jr5622

More specifically, I want to connect an HDMI device to my InFocus IN2104 (VGA DLP Projector). What do I need to buy to be able to do this? Any links to converters, cables, and explanations are welcome and will be +1'd. Thank you!

Answer
VGA standard is too low of a resolution for it to be directly compatible with any usual HDMI input. The cable is usually provided for High resolution image transfer. svga, xga, or wga would be what is needed for anything but grainy graphs and charts in any case. You might be able to connect through your pc output. if your video system allows resolution settings as low as VGA. Not all do, anymore. Normally, a projector connects no differently than any other monitor, and to the same outputs..

Khaled Al

Guys,

I've bought a couple of things but there is a couple of problems which is happening to me

- Nvidia 3D Graphic Card
- Samsung 3D TV 8 Series
- 3D Vision from Nvidia

I've got a problem when my computer starts the stereoscopic wizzard where my 3d Tv can't be detected by my PC and the Samsung doesnt have an IR immiter to place it from the device

please someone help me it's been 2 days and i can't find an answer

thank you guys

Answer
The Samsung TV does not support nVidia's 3D Vision. Only a few computer monitors support it, because they need to run at a 120Hz refresh rate. Many HDTVs run at 120Hz but the only ones currently on the market that support 3D Vision are from Mitsubishi. Here's a list of computer monitors, Mistubishi TVs and HD projectors that support 3D Vision, from nVidia's web site:

Sorry, but you'll have to return that TV and buy one of the supported displays to get 3D Vision to work.

3D projector with Nvidia 3d vision GPU?

JoeMTW

Hello, I do have a 3D Vision ready system ( Emitter + glasses ), and have invested in many 3d vision 2 glasses.
Now I'm planning to get a 3D projector to be able to watch movies with the family connecting the projector to my GTX 670, which is a 3D vision ready card.

My Questions is, will I be able to use this projector[1] to watch movies using my PC GPU?
