I have a regular home DVD player and I want to hook it up to a mobile projector. Will the projector require a certain type of connector?
Answer
Check the projector to see what sort of inputs it has.
Most projectors will accept VGA, composite-video (standard A/V cable) and s-video (gives you a better picture than composite video.) Better projectors will also accept component video and even HDMI. Some better DVD players can also output VGA as well.
Check to see if the projector also has speakers - most of them don't. If your projector doesn't have speakers, you'll need to bring some along or use whatever is at the site. Computer speakers will work, but you will need to get a RCA-to-miniplug converter so you can make the connection. Radio Shack or other electronics stores sell these.

projector cuts out when using my dvd player?
Edward
i have an optoma projector and a panasonic blue ray dvd player, when i watch films (both blueray and non blue ray dvd's) the film cuts out every couple of minutes, to the blue screen, saying searching in the bottom right corner, for about 3 seconds then goes back to the film. is this because i have a poor quality hdmi cable? the cable and projector works fine on my xbox, i've tried it with 2 panasonic dvd players and both have the same problem.
the cable is a cheap 4ft cable from amazon, it's actually an amazon basics one, i have other hdmi cables lying around, i'll try them out. thanks.

How long is your HDMI run? I have a similar setup with an Epson 8350 projector and a PS3 for movies. I ended up with an HDMI from Blue Jeans Cable because I was running 50ft. They are slightly cheaper than Monster brand and are great quality. If it is a long run I would suggest a HDMI amplifier with your current cable then maybe give BJC a call because they are very friendly and informative. Best of luck to you and your setup.
