is it good quality?
Answer
BenQ is a name brand projector manufacturer. For $400 it's a pretty good deal (It had a US MSRP of $1500 and a street price of $800). See the link for some details.
It's primarily a business projector, and the contrast ratio (600:1) is low by modern home theatre standards, but there are people who use this or very similar projectors for home theatre use (HDTV and DVD).
Note it doesn't have digital inputs .. so you would not be able to connect via HDMI or DVI.
I'd suggest a screen no bigger than about 80", and don't expect HDTV performance, BUT it's a good value to get into big screen TV, games or movies. Just don't expect miracles.

Projector suggestion?

I am looking to replace my infocus 7205 DLP projector, i think its a 720P or 1080i.
i want an equivalent machine, hopefully better, for as cheap as possible. i figure, since mine is about 4 or 5 years old, i can an equal machine for much less.
i don't know much about projectors, and all the new infocus ones are over 2000 dollars which is way over budget.
thanks for any advice

The cheaper you go, the lower the quality. Any projector that does 720p or 1080i is going to start in the $600 range. Here is a link to a BenQ projector, we have several models from that manufacturer at work, that should do what you want.

There are several sites that review projectors, a little research will definitely help you decide.
