Connect apple tv to hdmi projector?

doppio

I just bought the projector viewsonic pro 8200....
it has two hdmi .....I can connect it to my home theater and cable box without any problem
but can't connect it to my apple tv second generation.....
Do I need something else other than hdmi cable?
I can't figure that out
Thanks

Answer
Keep in mind that tv do not have any video out put at all, only audio output via the optical audio output. Projector also does not have a tv tuner for you to pick up the tv program. Hope this will help you out.

How do I connect an Apple TV to a VGA Projector?

More specifically, I want to connect an HDMI device to my InFocus IN2104 (VGA DLP Projector). What do I need to buy to be able to do this? Any links to converters, cables, and explanations are welcome and will be +1'd. Thank you!

Answer
VGA standard is too low of a resolution for it to be directly compatible with any usual HDMI input. The cable is usually provided for High resolution image transfer. svga, xga, or wga would be what is needed for anything but grainy graphs and charts in any case. You might be able to connect through your pc output. if your video system allows resolution settings as low as VGA. Not all do, anymore. Normally, a projector connects no differently than any other monitor, and to the same outputs..
