Looking for a decent projector for under $1000?

Q. Thanks for taking the time to read my question.

Anyways, my friend has (or used to have) movie night at his house. But his parents aren't very fun and lately there really hasn't been any movie nights.

That's why I'd like to have it at my house, but I don't have the biggest TV (under 50"). I do however have the PERFECT spot for a projector.

I was wondering what's a decent projector for under $1000. All I really want it to be able to do is play DVDs and my Xbox. If I could connect it to a TV too, that'd be great, but not really necessary.

Oh, and by 'decent' I mean good sound and video quality.

Thanks =)

HD Projector, or Flat screen TV (under $1000)?

We are trying to build a "home theater" in our basement but we are also having trouble deciding which to buy: a 50" Flat screen or an HD Projector. Let me know your thoughts below....

Answer
Well, the projector allows you to have a bigger picture the further back you put the projector from the screen. And ,if it's going to be pretty dark in there all the time (no windows), the projector would probably be your best bet. If you're looking for a TV 50" or more in the $1000 price range, you're probably be looking at an off brand (like Vizio or something), which are kind of hit and miss as far as quality.
