I would like to buy a projector. I would like to be able to play my ps3 on it and watch movies. Could someone educate me on how to spot a quality projector? What should I look for? Is there a quantifiable unit that describes how good a projector is. I'm looking in the 2000 dollar range.

Most projectors will allow you to play movies and your PS3, some important things to look for are: the connectivity, you should find one that has an HDMI input. This will let you get the best possible digital connection. Resolution, The higher, the better. 1080p projectors allow you to see full HD resolution at 1920 X 1080 pixels. Lumens, this is the measure of the output brightness, which is very important depending on the lighting in the room. If it is a bright room, then a higher lumens model will perform better. The higher the lumens number, the more light output you get. Refresh rate, Some projectors offer higher frame rates such as 120 or 240 Hz, which will improve the clarity when you are watching sports or playing your video games. You will also need to decide if you want a DLP or an LCD type. They both can offer excellent image quality, but create the colors and picture in different ways. I believe this is a personal preference and you should see both types for yourself. Take all of these factors into consideration in your purchase so you can get the maximum enjoyment from your investment. I hope this helps. Do not get this one. I got it for christmas, and the picture is horrible. Also, it has to be like pitch black to see to get a picture. Also, it only has one way of hooking things up to it. Another bad thing about it is the fan. The fan on this projector is noisy. When I got this for christmas, within 5 days I stoped using it. The only thing is, you cant find a cheap projector that work's well. If you want my advice, check out this projector. LINK BELOW. It has a great amount of lumens. P.S lumens are what make your picture brighter, for if you use it during the day when there's a lot of lite in the room. Also it supports HDTV. But a lot of people say its for office use. E.X powerpoint, presentations. But it is pretty cheap, and is said to work pretty well. It's called the (Epson PowerLite 77c 2200 Lumen Multimedia Projector) Thats the one I might get. But if you want a really nice home theatre projector, than get the (Mitsubishi HC1500 720p DLP Home Theater Projector.)
