Hello ^_^

I am currently looking into purchasing a projector and projector screen to display video games on a larger surface.

After checking out what's on the market I noticed there are inexpensive business projectors and much more expensive home theater projectors.

I'm just wondering if I can get a satisfactory image from inexpensive business projectors, or if I need to purchase a home theater projector to get a satisfactory image out of my video games.

also... does the projector screen i purchase really matter?

Answer
Business projectors are usually intended to display fixed images like powerpoint presentations. Home Theater projectors are for displaying motion and video. If you want High Def for say an X-Box 360 or Playstation 3 then your prices for a good projector will start at around a 1000 bucks and go up from there. Also consider long term costs of bulb replacement, bulb life on projectors averages only 2000 hours of use.
As for screens, just like projectors you get what you pay for.

How can i project pictures of my reception during the reception?

I've heard of people taking pictures during their wedding/reception and using a projector to display the pictures for the guests to enjoy. I don't know anything about projectors, but this sounds like a neat idea. Does anyone know anything about this? Can you just plug in a camera to a projector? Or do you have to buy slides? I'm clueless here, so any info will point me in the right direction. Thanks!

Answer
You wouldn't want to tie up your camera to the projector, because then you can't use the camera for more photos.
However, you could hook up a laptop to the projector, and have a few memory cards to cycle through.
That way, you could download images from the first card to the laptop, while filling the next card.

Biggest problem might be the projector. They vary HUGELY in quality and the good ones are VERY expensive.
Cheaper ones are nowhere near as clear, and really only work if the room is quite dark. Even cheap ones look pretty good when they are very close to screen and the projected image is small, so don't let the displays in stores fool you - they are set up to look good at that small size, but wouldn't work for what YOU want.

It would be best if you could rent a top quality one for the day.

P.S. I wouldn't just show photos of the reception - everyone is there and seeing it live, anyway. I'd make a slideshow of the bride and groom as kids, on vacation, with their families, the friends, etc.
