do projectors have the same if not better quality than a tv?

heyheyyouy

i was considering getting a projector tv instead of a normal tv. is the quality the same if not better? what are some of the best ones and do all projectors fit all projector screens or will they tell you what it fits in the description? thanks.

Answer
Projectors look great if you are far enough away, say 8' or more. Up close you cant see much, and its all blurry. if you want a home theater room, then its definetly better than a tv, because the screen will be larger than any tv in the price range.

The projector will go on any white surface, so any screen. They just recommend the optimal distance when focusing at certain sizes.

For brand, Ive seen many good deals for HD projectors such as epson. They are they are the budget models that perform amazing at a great price.

Video projector or tv?

Jason

Ok here it is im debating on whether to get a projector that will be used as a tv, or a lcd tv. I am willing to spend around $500. Also, with the projector is there a need to buy speakers? After your choice if you can will you make a suggestion of the tv or projector? THX

Answer
I own a projector and these are the facts. If you are buying new do not get a projector because 500 dollars is not enough and you will not be happy. Also keep in mind that the room has to be somewhat dark to see the image. All projectors use a bulb that lasts around 3000 hours and then it needs to be replaced. Mine went out yesterday and will cost 465 dollars to replace.
Projectors only show an image. You usually have to have a digital box from your tv provider to make a connection and will have to have some sort of Stereo system for sound. In order to get a quality projector you need to visit higher end store like ultimate electronics or get one used on Ebay or Craigslist. Take some time and visit the different stores by you. If the store doesn't have it on display for you to see the picture than chances its not what you are looking for.

Projector TV Tunner?

Me

I purchaced a LCD projector it comes with RCA ports ( the yellow, white, red). What to I have to to to hook cable up to it. I have a DVD, VCR and surround sound system hooked up to it now.

Answer
The red and white jacks are for sterao audio. The yellow is for composite video. Unfortunately this is the lowest quality video connection format (in order of improved quality, S-video, Component and DVI/HDMI are better) so you would not be advised to consider feeding the projector more than a 480p signal (i.e. no HDTV).

You don't say what projector it is, but I would assume it projects a 480 line image (vs 540, 720 or 1080), and therefore you will probably not want to watch an image much bigger than 50-60" (anything larger will be pretty blocky).

In terms of what to feed it ... output from a VCR (to view VCR tapes, and if it has a tuner section you could connect cable to the VCR to watch TV), DVD player (to view DVDs) or cable box (to view TV) would all work. Re cable, you need a tuner to "translate" the cable signal to video ... you can't connect direct. Feed the audio signal to your AV receiver not the projector though ... the speakers on projectors are pretty basic.

Hope this helps.
