Best value movie projector - cheaper the better?

Ben

Would use it to watch an occasional movie, tv tuner is not required, would be good if it has a connection for pc. Standard definition is ok, has to be below 800 dollars. Any help is appreciated

Answer
I personally will never go back to a TV after experiencing the immersive experience of movies and HDTV on a 100" screen via a projector. But they are not for everyone.

There are projectors available in your price range ... mainly so-called "business" projectors. All will accommodate a PC. None have tuners for TV (although a few have a built in DVD player). True home theatre -- optimized for movies -- projectors start at about $1000. See the link below for further information.

That said, there are some excellent used projectors on the market so you may be able to go that route ... although be aware that lamps eventually (3-4 years at 2-3 hr/day) wear out and can cost $400-$500 to replace, so take that into account. Also, while you can use a blank white wall or even a bed sheet, optimal pictures require a screen ... which can cost $200 - $2000.

Hope that helps.

What is the best projector for the value ? ?

Super

i have looked into many projectors, the optoma hd20 is affordable yet doesnt compete against the newest projectors. I want to get the epsonpowerlite 1050 but its 2600 dollars. so if anyone knows of a projector that ha really nice quality and is afforable, please help me out!

Answer
Your idea of best value may differ from someone else (because what features you value may differ from someone else). See reviews at the links for excellent suggestions.

In general you get what you pay for. Expect to pay >$1000 for a "good" projector.

What is the value of a Tower Automatic 8mm Projector?

Q. What is the value of a Tower Automatic 8mm Projector???? Model number - 584.92920
Serial number - SB-65148??? Just wondering if they had any value??
Thank You,

Answer
It's worth whatever someone will pay for it. There's plenty of these showing up as unsold on Ebay. People have been asking prices starting at $20.

Nostalgia alone doesn't guarantee value in consumer electronics. There are lots of 8mm projectors around and not many people with 8mm films looking for a basic projector. So as a piece of working technology there's not much value.

I've often thought though that these make quite a nice cinema room prop if resprayed in satin black and gold like the vintage typewriters. Of course that's quite a lot of work and there's no guarantee of a sale. But Ebay could get you some nice exposure and it would stand out compared to the dozens of plain projectors for sale on there week in week out.

value of HD projectors?

Q. I am trying to buy one of the older versions of a Runco projector. It is the Runco Dr-300c, I couldn't find any used ones but I am willing to buy one new. Does anyone know what these go for brand new?

Answer
around $250=350
