Best office projector under $1000? (for use in room with skylights)?

I'm looking for a projector for the office... To use for video conferencing, play wii, presentations, etc.

What is my best bet for under $1000? Preferably very much under $1000.

Also, what should I look out for? Steer away from?

And finally, our office has skylights that aren't able to be covered. So it won't be really dark, ever.

What's the best projector under $1500 that you can get for a large partialy lit room?

The room is probably 25'x45' with the screen coming doing infront of a stage area. We would like to move the projector around to other rooms as well but it would do most of it's work here. Some still PP slides and some video. The screen is about 10'X10' and would be about 25' from the projector.

You will probably have to trade off somewhere. I did a search on available projectors, assuming 2000 lumen brightness minimum (to address light in the room) and a throw distance of 25' onto a 150" screen. See the link for results --- the least expensive was about $2300. You can redo the search with different parameters.

This site also has good reviews, additional info andrecommendations (including lists of popular projectors by application).

i am in the market for a projector. i have never owned one and no little to nothing about them. i own a large flat screen plasma tv, thats how i know about 1080p. i saw this one on amazon. it is one of few 1080p projectors i found under $2000. actually its the cheapest. tell me straight up. is this a piece of crap

Two Type of Projector LCD and DLP. LCD projector are quite, video are very vivid and bright but LCD projector are very big compare to DLP projector, which is smaller, louder fan noise, contrast (black level) are better than LCD projector. All projector require New lamp every 2000-3000 hours which is almost 3-5 year with 2-3 hours every day. But LCD projector can extend the lamp hours to 4000 to 5000 hours if the projector is clean regularly. DLP projector are not light that, if time limit is reach than you have to buy a new bulb. I would recommend you buy a Sanyo Z2000 1080p for $1549 with $600 rebate(at BHphoto.com). If that is to high, than buy a Optoma HD65, it's the best projector under $1000.00. Optoma is the leading budget projector for many year, it also have 2 year warranty. THe Sany Z2000 1080P have 3 year warranty. If you do buy a projector, make sure to at least buy 3 year warranty! Projector tend to brake down after warranty period, fixing it is costly so remember to buy extend warranty and regular cleaning for LCD projector and it will last a very long time.

about lumens projectors?

i heard there really cheap, you can buy a 1000 or 1500 on ebay brand new for under 500, it also says bulbs on it last 6000 hours, and they only cost 50 bucks per bulb, this seems to good to be true, i heard all projector bulbs can only last 1000 hours

There may be some confusion here.

Lumens is a measure of projector brightness. A typical Home theatre projector is rated at 1000-1500 lumens, but this is reduced to 300-500 when adjusted for optimum colour accuracy.

Lamps are typically rated to last 2000-4000 hrs (I don't know of any that claim more) but actual can last much shorter (or, presumably) somewhat longer, depending on how they are treated.

Cost vary from about $200 - $500 .... I've never heard of a normal projector lamp that costs $50.

So, any projector claiming 1000+ lumens brightness and with a 6000 hr lamp life @ $50 to replace is either a significant breakthrough (unlikely), will have horrible colour accuracy, or is a scam.
