Can anyone recommend a great portable projector for under $500?

Melissa la

Please recommend projectors with which you have personal experience or know someone who has. I've already done a preliminary google search. Thanks so much!

Answer
A good projector that is going to give a real wow factor to the screen isn't cheep. there is one that is really good for a bit higher than your price, but i promise it will satisfy your needs. The Epson megaplex 850 hd. At visual appex it is priced at $699. you won't be dissapointed i promise. It plays great with its 2800 lumens in light or dark conditions. It has 2 10 wat bulit in speakers and last but defiatly not least it has an ipod dock for a iphone, ipod touch, ipod nano, or an ipad. i have been looking for projectors for months and i have been up and down every projector website. When i saw the megaplex i knew it was exactly what i wanted. i hope this answer helped.

How do I connect my ipod touch to an unused computer Monitor? I think i have all the right cables and adapters?

football q

Ok, so i have an adapter that connects my ipod to a video cable that connects to a RGB cable which goes into the monitor(Samsung SyncMaster 152B). I know the ipod can connect to a projector so i was thinking that it would go to a monitor but nothing comes on the display. Any ideas??

Answer
Did you refer to the manual or apple website ?
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1454

iPod models that support TV out can support viewing on a television in several ways. Use the tables below to see which cables and docks can be used with each iPod model. Check the documentation that came with the cable or iPod for information on how to connect and enable TV out.

Note: If you choose to use a third-party cable, make sure it has the "Works with iPhone" or "Made for iPod" label. Learn more about iPod and iPhone accessories.
Products Affected

iPod, iPad, iPod touch, iPod photo, iPod classic, iPhone, iPod nano (3rd generation), iPod (5th generation), iPod nano (4th generation), iPod with color display, iPod nano (5th generation)
Cable compatibility

All you need to get TV out is a compatible iPhone, iPad, or iPod and the correct cable. If your device works with the component and composite cables, then the choice depends on the TV(s) you will be connecting to.

Answer
I'm not expert, but here are the things I hope to see.

1. The first conscious robot capable of meaningfully interacting with human beings.
2. The Semantic Web
3. Energy off the grid from private solar and fuel cells and in such abundance that we never have to pay for energy again.
4. holographic projectors
5. The perfection of room temperature superconductors so that we can coat the roads with them and fly across the country simply by wearing a special metal belt.
6. The emergence of Nanofactories that will enable us to 'print' objects like toys and food and tools after downloading the program for constructing it from the internet.
7. Automated driving systems, so that we may finally live in a world without car accidents
8. The merging of man and machine via neural implants and artificial hearts
9. An ever present internet in all devices and products.
10. Wars becoming obsolete
11. The possibility that in this coming century we will live forever.
12. The rise of the private space industry and the colonization and teraforming of Mars.
13. The begining of the hydrogen economy.
14. The rise of the comercial robotics industry, in which all menial task jobs will be eliminated freeing people to direct their energies to creative endeavors.
15. The prevalance of free online education programs that are more effective than traditional schooling as a result of the maturation of web 2.0 technologies and our finally learning how to best tap their potentials.

And here are some of the things I dread:

1.Global warming causing massive climate shifts that collapse societies and kill millions.
2. The rise of a massive international police state that is intolerant of dissident voices and undermines the sovereignty of all the democratic nations of the Earth in favor of short term elitist goals
3. An asteroid hitting the Earth or a nearby star going supernova and killing us all
4. Bird Flu
5. The health care crisis
6. Over population issues and the destruction of the world's ecosystems
7.The rise of nano-plagues or masive public manipulation via brain manipulation as a result of these technologies
