joe
im looking to buy an HD projector and i want it to have 1080p. i see a lot that say native resolution of 1200x800 but with a maximum of 1600x1200 or higher. what is the difference, would i still be getting a 1080p type picture?
Answer
Joe - The "native resolution" is the resolution of the projector's LCD panel. The "max resolution" is the maximum resolution that the projector can display. Any time a projector receives a signal that is higher than the native resolution, the projector must process the high res signal so that it can display it.

how much does a SVGA native resolution affect a projector?

Answer
SVGA = 800x600
A projector with SVGA native resolution must scale everything to 800x600. This resolution is greater than standard-definition (720x480i) but less than high-definition (1280x720 or greater).
Such projectors are generally best left for displaying simple PowerPoint presentations and the like.
